    Re: C2 Cooling help.

    John,

It was part of the the C60 AC option. In your AIM see C60 B2.6. It is nothing more than a fiberglass ring that bolts to the bottom half of the standard shroud. If you have a Long Island Corvette catalog (avail on the web) it is part 25-36A

      John
I experienced a similar cooling problem with my 63 after I removed a non-original fuel injection and returned to the original 340 hp set-up. The only added equipment was the carburetor, distributor and intake manifold with air cleaner. I couldn't understand how those items could now result in a running hot situation. After changing out the radiator and water pump, I finally discovered I had set the new distributor up inadvertently using the 4-cyl scale on my dwell meter instead of 8-cyl. It made all the difference in the heat after I corrected that bone-head mistake.

        John,

I bought one of those shroud extensions but didn't use it. You have to drill holes in your original shroud to install it.

As it turned out I didn't need it with the radiator flush, new water pump, fan clutch, timing and carb adjustment to original spec.

I got it hanging in the garage, just in case I need it someday

          Update after this weekend.....

New Dewitts radiator installed and helped considerably, especially at speed. Then came problems sitting at lights which I had not noticed before. After investigating I found the fan clutch not performing correctly. Searched the boards and found info on rebuilding and also info on adding silicone to clutch (Switzer type). Followed those procedures and some other help on the net and she is back up and performing properly. Drove the car on Saturday for quite a bit in 98 degree heat with the a/c on and car stayed between 180-195 degrees. Even at idle for long period of time. Fan clutch seems to engage around that 180-190 range. Does that sound normal? Any feedback is always appreciated!

All sounds good, looks like it's mission accomplished.

on my resolution of heating problem

              John,

              Good for you.

I think it was finally the fan clutch on my 67, and I got a replacement.

Still have my original fan clutch, and would like to know how you rebuilt yours. Seems like the only option is to send it out for this expensive and time consuming restoration process.

But I like to do things myself, so I'd like to know.
Maybe a Restorer article is in store for you on the fan clutch.

              Cheers,

                Jerry,
Kind of thought about it for a minute. Only thing is I did not really disassemble the whole fan clutch and I did no bearing work. i just added the silicone to the front of the fan assembly after removing the "bar" and the small brass plug. I also improvised with a bent paper clip to keep the little plunger piece open to allow for the silicone to "drain" in. As a foot note, I bought the 3000 cst silicone at the rc hobby shop for $4.00 and I could probably do this 15 more times. An awful cheap repair!
