C3 Rear Spring Assembly

AIMs reference the rear spring assembly whether heavy-duty or base suspension. I'm assuming this assembly included not only the spring but probably some mounting hardware since the part number differs from the GM# typically listed for the rear spring.

Do you mean when someone bought a service replacement spring? I think it's just the assembly consisting of the spring leaves, liners and center bolt/nut.

Any time a part was comprised of more than one part, it was called an "assembly", whether it was an engine or a bolt with a captured free-spinning washer. A 9-leaf rear spring had about 18 parts in it, thus "spring assembly".
