The new 1966 judging manual is great. On page 90 the manual says, "The letter "S" is found in the VIN derivatives as applied on engine pads for the first several hundred cars." I am looking for anyone who can help with the definition/identification of "the first several hundred". Thanks

Jeff:
If I recall correctly, this subject was extensively discussed/debated on the forum a few years back. I would check the archives. Roy Sinor even got involved in the discussion.
If you can't find the old message(s) let me know and I will go through my files to get this information for you.

Re: Letter "S" on my '66 engine pad derivative
Yes, that thread was started by me when I was looking at buying a '66 and saw an "S" on the engine pad stamp. It turns out the earliest one I could find without the "S" was VIN 224, it seems all the ones before that had an "S", but who knows, I don't think it is certain where they stopped doing it exactly.
