C2: sock for fuel sending unit; GM part #?

Can anyone confirm for me if GM 5651702 is the correct GM part number for the sock (strainer) that attaches to the pick-up end of the tank sending unit for a C2?

    Thanks,

    Gary

Gary, GM Parts Direct has that item, a fuel tank gauge strainer, part #5651702 for the princely sum of $9.18. PT

      Patrick,

Gmpartsdirect.com is where I found the list price. I'm happy to buy it if someone can confirm for me it's the correct part for C2.

        Gary,

GM # 5651702 did not exist in October 1966 or in July 1972 as per my 1967 & 1972 Chevrolet Price Schedules.

My 1967 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (April 1967) lists GM # 3751491 in Gr. 3.110 as a Fuel Tank Gauge Strainer for 60-64 Corvette models (see photo). This same part number is also in my 1979 Corvette Parts Catalog for the 60-64 Corvettes but NOT 65-67 Corvette(???). The description is as follows: "STAINER, tank pipe (2 3/4 lg.)(3/8 I.D.)".

          Gary,

I believe the reason why the 3751491 stainer is not listed for the 1965-1967 Corvette is that the 1963 Corvette used sending unit # 5642797 which was replaced in October 1963 with the 6425113 sending unit (used on 1964 Corvettes) which was then replaced with the 6425827 sending unit that was used on the 1965-1967 Corvettes. Apparently the strainer for the 6425827 sending unit was not serviced back in the old days.

Thanks David. I think it's probably worth the gamble. The OD of the pick-up tube on my sender is 0.365", so I'm guessing it's meant to take a sock with an ID of 0.375", which is the spec you provided.

            Thanks,

            Gary
