Here is a pic of the new 2012 only color called Carlisle Blue. Next to it is the '66 only color called Trophy Blue. They look pretty close, and it seems the C6 Corvette owners hate this new color with a passion. It makes me wonder if the Trophy Blue was as unpopular in '66. And how about now? How popular is Trophy Blue today with you all?

I agree, I have not seen the new color in person but am familiar with the old one. What's your opinion of the new blue, since you obviously like blueBig Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: New Corvette color looks like old
I will butt in and say I have ordered a couple of Carlisle blue cars for my inventory, but I'm not real excited about it.Last edited by Tom H.; July 6, 2011, 05:04 PM.Tom Hendricks

Re: New Corvette color looks like old
Like blue? Moi??
Seven of the eight cars I own are blue (or are supposed to be blue).Oh, and my house and garage are painted blue -- but it is all a coincidence. I really don't like blue any more than some other color.
All that said, my first take of Carlisle Blue was not positive. Contrast that with Jetstream Blue that I fell in love with early on, and I knew that would be a winner in spite of some nay sayers.Terry- Top

Re: New Corvette color looks like old
Discussing colors is like discussing women or art, not everyone sees things the same way. I like the subtle more elegant colors, that's why I am a big fan of Mosport Green and Trophy Blue for my '66s. The Jetstream Blue is striking, but too loud for my taste, sort of like the Torch Red. The Supersonic Blue is too dull looking for me, but I am attracted to his new Carlisle Blue, maybe as nostalgia for the C2 colors. There may be more like me coming to BUDS Chevy for that inventory...

Re: New Corvette color looks like old
I saw Carlisle Blue in person for the first time at Bloomington. And, I thought it appeared much, much better than any picture of it I've seen, including the one in this thread.
It reminds me very much of 1963-4 Silver Blue.

Re: New Corvette color looks like old
I'm a dark blue lover myself (both my driver and 63), but I think the new lighter blue on this C-6 is very refreshing. I predict it will be a good seller. Folks are getting tired of the old silvers, grays, blacks, reds and whites. I like it.

Re: New Corvette color looks like old
That color does nothing for me. Jetstream blue was a much nicer color IMHO but I heard it was discountinued due to the something in that color that was made in Japan and is no longer available. If that is the case, I wonder how tough it will be to match the correct shade in the future?- Top

Re: New Corvette color looks like old
I frequent the C6 forum as well and add my name to the detractors of Carlisle Blue. I saw it in person at BG and it confirmed my same feeling as when the first pics were posted. It's reminiscent of the '60's silver blue, but on that body style it seemed to work-not so on the C6. If GM had to stay within corporate to add a new 'Vette color I think they could have made a better choice. There will be some buyers, I'm sure, as it will be something different, but I don't see it as being desirable and is likely a risk for dealers to order many for stock. I'd be surprised if it is available for the entire model year. Looks like a minivan color...- Top

Re: New Corvette color looks like old
IMO, Carlisle Blue looks like a color that belongs on a 1985 Cutlass Sierra with an 85 year old granny behind the wheel.
I honestly can't believe this color was approved for production on a modern-day Corvette.... especially at the expense of one of the best blue's to ever be offered on a Corvette (IMO), that being Jetstream Blue. I understand changing the palatte to keep the color offerings fresh, but wow, what a downgrade.
(And, yes, this is the same blue that is offered on the Cruze under a different name... I believe if was offered on (and looked ridiculous on as well) Chevy Tahoes for a while.- Top

Re: New Corvette color looks like old
IMO the Carlisle Blue vs Trophy Blue - Not the same - Not even close - Carlisle just does't work on the C6 Body.
But just like the Nassua Blue on the '65 is NOT the same as Nassua Blue on the '97 - '00 C5's the new Nassua works on the C5 Body.
IMO Nassua and LeMans Blue are great on C5's and Jetstream C6 GS is to die for - but then I'm -----------
But then are not all real Corvettes Red ?????????? at least in the great state of Texas !!! LOL
