    Direction Signal Switch Tag

My original paper switch tag fell off when I was replacing the switch. Can someone tell me the correct placement the tag?

    Thanks

        Re: Direction Signal Switch Tag

        Ron, Steve,

Sorry guys, I don't think the tag was red on originals, at least on my late 67.

Here's a picture of the tag from my original white signal switch:

The tag on mine was just 3/4" white tape with BPM spaced at 5/16", with a font height of 3/16". Notice the tape dispenser mark in the picture. You could probably make your own if you could find the font from the picture, and the right tape.

Not saying that all the original tags were white, but service replacement switches were orange to red, so maybe they color coordinated the tags with the switch.

        Just having fun

          Re: Direction Signal Switch Tag

Jerry, this is the second time I replaced my signal switch. Both replacement switches were red. I understood original switches were white but did not know the original tags were white also. I thought the red tag I showed was original but now think it was from the 1st replacement switch.

Thanks for the response and photo. I'm going to make my own white tag.

            Ron,

Let us know how you make it, and the font used. I need to make a tag for my third replacement.

Trivia Question: Direction Signal Switch Tag

              Here's a trivia question:

              What does BPM stand for?

I know the B is for Boyne, would the PM be for Parts Manufacturing?

              Anyone know for sure.

                Jerry -

I'd vote for "Boyne Products Manufacturing".

                  Re: Direction Signal Switch Tag

Gerry, my original BPM tag is red. My original switch plastic was a light pink while yours appears to be a gray/white plastic. Possibly BPM changed the plastic formulation and also the tag color.

I stated earlier that I had remade the tag. Closer observation of mine shows that I am using the original.

I did make a red tag for the steering column itself, that was located near the "engine end" of the column tube. This tag has the partnumber of the assy on it.... similiar to the tags on the back of the instrument clusters.

Jerry, sorry for the delay in responding. I used:
                    S/W - Power Point / Word Art
                    Font - Century Gothic
                    Size - 12 Bold
Paper - Off white label paper (to fold over and cut cut on a scotch tape dispenser to create end teeth)

                      Ron,

Sure looks like you got the font right, if you compare yours with my picture above.

How about posting a picture of the label on the wire harness (maybe with a little grime on it). On mine it was positioned 6" up from the harness connector.

Good job. I see NCRS has effected you, like me.

                          Re: Direction Signal Switch Tag

First of all the brake return spring color is orange and not red.
Secondly I'm attaching a photo of my pedal assy before it was restored showing the spring to be orange. I've owned the car since 1982 and have no reason to believe someone had changed the spring, considering the condition of the car when I purchased it in 1982.
The same applies for the color of the turnsignal switch tag. Mine is dark red. I made a mistake in an earlier thread saying that I made a new tag. Mine is still original. (I did make a new red tag [TO 7803156] for the steering column after reading about an original tag in a recent RESTORER ISSUE).
The original switch itself is a pale pink as opposed to the aftermarket ones of today which are more bright pink/orange.

Gerry's original switch is white as is his tag. In my opinion both are correct... especially when others have dark red tags as well as some that have white. Lets face it, BPM made thousands of turn signal switches for various models......and the tape logo with no part number was very generic.
