Is this idler arm from a recently completed eBay auction correct? It looks wrong to me. Is someone going to be disappointed when they try to install it on a Corvette?

Yes, someone is going to be very surprised. The idler arm pictured is NOT a Corvette idler arm assembly. What creates the confusion here is that the lever section of this arm will carry the 3779185 forging number. This is the same as found on the GM #3779184 idler arm assembly which is applicable to Corvettes leading someone to believe it is the 3779184 Corvette part. However, it's NOT the 3779184 as evidenced by the configuration of the bracket component. The Corvette idler arm has a single offset and this idler arm has two offsets. That means it's a GM #3817956 which is singularly applicable to 1963 Chevrolet series 10 pick-up trucks. Now, if someone is restoring a 1963 Chevrolet series 10 pick-up truck, this is the piece they need. However, if they're restoring a Corvette, then they're out-of-luck.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
