c-1 1958 winshield seal

Hi,

My windshield has been replaced with nos glass using a cc seal and the seal has ruffled across the top of the glass and around the posts on the inside of the glass. The seal is not sitting on the dash pad and has gaps. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it?? The glass has been in and out 3 times now with no success. I have been told the repop seals are too big and this is why it ruffles. Is it possible it is a frame issue or is it the seal?

Susan, I had a similar problem and it turned out that the tabs on the post were broken. This was causing the header to lift off the top of the glass. Repairing the tabs and replacing the rubber seal resolved the problem.

The CC seal currently being sold is too large which results in the ripples you have experiened. I have heard that the seals are being manufactured this way due to complaints from customers about the difficulty they have encountered in fitting the correctly sized seals. There is nothing I am aware of that you can do about this problem other than to replace the seal with one of the proper size.
