1962- Most accurate capacitors for coil and Regulator??

After looking at all of the different vendors out there I am not sure what to use for a coil and Vreg capacitor on my 62.

What is the most accurate capacitor for the coil and Regulator if there is even one?

    Recommendations?

    Thanks,

    Tony

The 'most accurate' capacitors from a judging originality aspect are factory original Delco Remy parts made in the era your car was built. For the voltage Regulator, that's a 1917580. For the ignition coil, you're after a 1947452. Both are now being reproduced, but I haven't looked at the reproduction next to a factory original.

More... Some will say the insulating phenolic on the lead wire end of the capacitor was a dull orange. I've gathered HUNDREDS of used originals over the years and I can tell you, that's not universally true. I've seen originals with a black phenolic as well as originals with a dark brown phenolic. My conclusion is Delco allowed material substitution from time to time in this area...

If by 'accuracy' you refer to the capacitor's ability to conform to specification on its electrical rating, that's kind of a joke. These parts were darn sloppy in their tolerance profile (20% drift is typical) as their application was simply that of an RF bridge to ground. Getting close to the presumed design center was all that was needed...

      Jack,

Thanks for the info. I should probably reword my posting. I was referring to how it physically looks.

If i can not locate correct original capacitors, is there a capacitor that would result in the minimum deduction on flight judging?

      Thanks,

      Tony
