    C2 Antenna cable question

In connecting my '65 antenna, I noticed the the antenna cable "looks" like a coaxial cable, but has no wire sticking out of the center core. Is this normal and the inner core buts against the antenna post? or Is it supposed to have some wire extending and mine is broken?
    Thanks,
    Phil

Phil, all antenna cables are coax and there should be a center conductor wire attaching to the connectors on both ends. Does it work? I'm not familiar with 65s specific, but it sounds to me like it is broken. -Dan-

Your '65 antenna cable is probably the same as the one on my '64. The end that connects to the radio has a male tip. This tip is not the "end" of the center conductor as you can see in the photo. This end pushes into a recepticle on the back of the radio.

The end at the antenna is female and attaches with a nut that is on the cable. I can't get to my AIM because I just painted the garage floor. When the paint dries I will get the part number for the antenna cable if you want it to compare with the '65 part number.

        Thanks Dan and Doug

The antenna is a restored original and it looks like the antenna has a male end (post with no hole) and the antenna cable end is female (looks like coax with no center wire). Hence my question, because it does not appear to be typical coax which had me second guessing. Based on pictures I beleive it is correct that way.

You're right; not today's typical RF coax connection that we find on our electronic audio/visual toys. Here's the mast from a '65/6 and the cable from that era (but not from a Corvette); same connections. Radio end connection is on the right.
