57 Upper Radiator Hose

I recently learned the latest judging guide lists a revised part number for the fuel injected upper radiator hose. The #3728490 is listed in the previous JG, AIM and by various parts vendors as being correct for this application. Does anyone have the history on this change?

GM never cataloged hose GM #3728490 for 1957 Corvettes with FI. It was cataloged only for applications with dual 4 barrel carburetor. The other hose cataloged for all applications EXCEPT dual 4 barrel carburetor was GM #3715184. Presumably, this included FI since no other hose was specified for FI applications.

That's an error in the 5th Edition of the 56-7 JM that didn't get caught.

Upper Radiator hose; Base 3715184, 2x4 & FI 3728490

Reason for the different hoses is that a base engine uses a different water inlet and 2x4 & FI use the same.

That may very well be how it actually was but it's contrary to GM parts cataloging. Of course, the cataloging is not always 100% accurate but it's pretty close to that.
