62 correct fillister screw for hose clamps??

    Please see the attached picture.

From what I understand, the screws that are on the clamps on the expansion tank to radiator hose and the clamps on the expansion tank bypass hose should all be a fillister head. However, the correct (I think) head has a small shelf (like an integral washer) as part of it. See the red arrow on the pic.

All of the clamps I see at every vendor do not have this small shelf/washer, nor could I find anything doing a general search.

Questions: Is that correct for a 62?
And if so, where can I find that correct screw or complete clamps?

    Thanks,

    Tony

Tony, What is the tread size and length of the fillister screw. I believe I went thru the same issue with my 63.
I have tons of FI fillister screws and also have some course thread odd balls. Let me know what you need & I'll check to see if I have it. JD

      John,

The screw size is 10-24 NC and the lengths are 1" (qty=2) and 3/4" (qty=2)
The length is the length of the threaded portion.

Do the ones you have have that small shelf on the head as show on the picture?

Do you know if there is a special name for this type of fillister head?

      Thanks again,

      Tony

Here are some more pictures. The one with the incorrect GM logo hose is my car and the other is from a a Top Flight Wildwood Regional car. Not the best photos but you can see the integral washer on the screws.

          Thanks for the added pics.

So the question is, where can these screws be purchased?

I have yet to see one with that integral washer on the screws.

Just figured I would get this post back up top. Anyone know where I can find these screws?

I have continued to search everywhere with no luck.

            Thanks again,

Paragon has them, check them out.

                Hi Dan,

I did contact Paragon (and Corvette Central as well as other) and spoke with their technical support folks. They have the standard fillister screws, but not the correct ones with the integral washer that is part of the head (refer to my initial posting and the picture with the red arrow showing that special head).

                Thanks,
                Tony

Hi Anthony, I bought 2 screws from Paragon a couple years ago to replace incorrect hex screws in expansion tank clamp. Paragon still lists the screw PN 175, 10X24X1 1/8". They also list the whole clamp set, PN 6157 with the screw. Page 71 of current catalog. The screw has the shoulder etc. See if they still have them in stock. $.50 ea.

If Paragon does not have them or does not ship at a reasonable price, check with Richard Fortier (former owner of Paragon). He advertises all types of fasteners in the Driveline.

Tony, Highly unlikely you can get these screw new. Ford used this screw in the 30's I know. The 10-24 thread is not typical for fuel injections as they used 10-32, etc.
AC fuel pumps used the washer head screw but the thread on those is 10-32. Sorry I can't help you on that. JD

Good grief, always have a bucket list of goodies you need to absorb shipping. I have yellow stickies on each page, then order when I can justify it. There's always a part you must have!

I had a list of things I needed (I have an endless spreadsheet of stuff) so I just added these to he order. Ended up being $0.50 per screw and I picked up a few extra.

The on-line picture looks pretty close to the pic I have of an original so I will just have to wait and compare.
