    First Duntov Award Winner

I'm at Bloomington Gold in St. Charles today. A car will be auctioned tomorrow that claims to be the first Duntov award winner. I'd like to bid on the car if it is indeed the first Duntov award recipient. Can anyone provide the identification for the first winner?
    Thanks,
    Chris

Dennis received it after a "rescore" post meet; I believe that it may have been the Pirkle's black '65 fuel coupe. And, IMHO, if that's the reason you're buying the car, you are looking to get burnt....but good luck.

Thanks Loren. It is the Pirkle 65 fuelie that is for sale. Can you tell me more about the "rescore" issue? What do the NCRS records show as being the first Duntov award winner and why would I get burned by the car? I'd love to chat if you have the time.
          Thanks again,

The "rescore" - as I recall it from 26+ years ago involved a review of the scoring sheets - when finally received - the exact issue/resolution was/is unknown to me.

Well, somebody stepped up on the ex-Pirkle car (Blk-on-Wht-KO-FI still takes a helluva photo) to the tune of 110K........

Thanks to all who replied. Based upon your responses, I was able to clarify that the car was being sold as the first "midyear" Duntov winner, and not the first overall winner. I dropped out of the bidding before it got to triple digits. The same car sold about 3 years ago through a dealer for a reported $100K. I'll keep trying.

There was some confusion when Clark's interior was judged at Boston. The team was told by the Team Leader Wilson Swilley to judge it a certain way yet the most updated guidelines we had at the time were different. In particular was the waffle pattern stamping on the edges of the kick panels, door pabels, etc that Mr. Knoch now reproduces properly Thus there were deducts that should of not been made based on current guideline reference. Dennis voiced his displeasure to the judgine team and it went up the chain like it should have and was resolved. Thus, the system worked that was in place and Mr. Clark's beautiful 57 got the proper award(s) that it rightfully deserved at the time. I know this is what happened as I was one of the interior team members judging the car.

Note that all the 56/7 interiors were judged the same, we did not pick out Mr. Clark's 57 solely.
