1966 Big Block Coil Springs

The judging guide lists one number for front small block springs and one for big block springs, ie, number 3888250. I take this as the spring is the same for both AC and non AC cars...correct? The reason for asking is that I found someone who's selling a big block AC spring (and I don't have AC in my car)...and a number of vendor catalogues I checked list different springs depending on AC or not.
Also, what's a rcommended paint and gloss level. Guide says painted black with a rust inhibitor paint?

There are/were definitely two different front coil springs that were unique to big block for 1966. (actually, three with HD/F41) As you mentioned, one for 427 and another for 427 with air conditioning.

The original finish was natural with a coating of rust preventative that was almost clear.

I think the black coating that you mention first appeared a decade or so later for springs sold in service.

3888250 for 427 non-ac (variable rate like 327)
3888251 for 427 with a/c (constant rate)
