    1970 windsheild wiper won't work

    Hi,

Working on a 1970 350/350 4 speed with A/C. All options but tilt. Wiper motor will not work. What I have done.

Motor is getting power from the overide switch. Under dash switch is on.
    Bought new motor
symtoms: Using a test wire I have power anywhere on the whole case. also when I touch the bare switch end on the dash I get a shock from it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hook up the ground.

I hard wire grounded the case to the motor. The wiper worked. Now I need to figure out how the wiper is grounded. I read it is grounded by one of the wires that goes to the washer pump. There are two wires that go into the pump. One is black the other is yellow . I assume the black wire is the ground wire? The wiper motor is grounded through the heater blower, which I beleive is the problem.

      My question now is:

Is the wiper motor grounded with the black wire on the washer pump?
How is the heater grounded, the blower motor does not work either!

      Thanks

Wiper motor is grounded at starter. A black wire goes from a connector on the wiper motor/washer pump that terminates at the starter. Run a known good ground from that connector and see what happens.

          Sort a figured that already.

Take care. That black ground wire is often confused for a hot wire because of the large terminal, and hooked up to the hot on the starter. So make sure its connected right before you touch something to it.

I had somewhat simular electrical problem near starter connections.
I initially tried to install the started shield on my 72 corvette. This was a
after market started shield. After trying to install the shield the holes in
the shield didn't quite line up so I left the shield off the car since flight
                judging was fast approaching.
MURPHY'S LAW HAS NOW ARRIVED: by the way I'm IRISH, O'Haire....
After reconnecting starter wires I had attempted to start the car and the
starter would not disengage the selonoid from grinding, EVEN after the
ignition key was turned to the off position, even after key was removed
                from steering column.
LUCKILY I had installed a battery cutoff switch previously. I was able to
reach around the seat back and move the SWITCH BLADE SWITCH to the
off position. This switch IS THE ONLY TYPE i would use, the screw knob
type is a bunch of junk, of course I had tried that type first, it a few bucks
                cheaper.....BLAH, BLAH, BLAH
MY warning is that the starter wires can be TOO CLOSE to each other
after they are secured on the starter. Arching will happen and selenoid
will continue to spin, until battery is disconnected.
After loosening the wires slightly and moving them apart my problem
                was solved.
I was told later by a fellow NCRS member that he had heard off a starter
that engaded while parked and car the moved forward until it ran into something. I know this is hard to believe, since there is a neutral start
switch of in gear protection, but CAN THIS HAPPEN? BIG JOHN
