Re: Piston Rings, Cast vs Moly
ALL piston rings are cast iron; in the 60's, the faces were chrome, and they took a long time to seat. All rings these days are still cast iron, but they're moly-faced, require specific honing, and they seat literally in minutes.
Don't even THINK about using old-style chrome rings.- Top

Steve-----
For 1972 the top compression ring was cast iron, moly-filled. The second ring was plain cast iron. The oil control ring was chrome-plated steel side rails with a stainless steel expander ring.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
