    61 Fueie cam

    Gentleman,

I have a 61 315 hp fuelie. I have just completed a long restoration on it. Back when I was deciding how to go with Cam, Pistons, Lifters etc. I was wisely advised to stay with the original internal components to assure enough vacume to make the FI run correctly. Which I did. In serching for the original 097 (Duntov) cam it was suggested to go Federal Mogul in that they were one of the only places were you could get one without having someone like Crane or Isky cut it for you. This is what I did. Well Fedral Mugul went bankrupt in the meantime and I cannot confirm thru them some information I need to determine if the crank is exactly the same as the GM 097, with the same specs and settings. I bought it thru CarQuest and their nimber for the Cam is Fed cs 113r. I was wondering if anyone out there could help me regarding info on this Cam? In particular what I need is specs on:

    Intake? Gm was .008
    Exhaust? Valve Setting GM .018

Valve adjustment? All of this when motor is hot

    Any help would be appreciated.

PS: Yes the Fuel Injection unit was rebuilt by Ken Hansen. It starts fine and runs under load. It just does not have enough vacum to idle properly. Ken is very willing to help correct it, but we need to confirm the information above to be sure we know what we are working with.

Jack, The FM cam is the same cam. Go for it while you can get it.
Info on box flap reads: Speed-Pro Sealed Power. CS-113R Federal Mogul corp. Made in USA. Lifters: AT992. Hope the lifter # is right.

Another good 097 cam is made by Elgin Industries. Elgin Pro Stock E-900P
      Dead nuts.

oops. Forgot that our own Jeff Reade from CA has a first class 097 cam. He advertises in "The Driveline". Email me if you can't find his phone number. John

        Re: 61 Fueie cam

Thanks guys. I will stick with the Federal Mogul Cam. I already bought one awhile back. I looked again this afternoon and it does not appear that Federal is making it anymore.

You both have answered posts by me in the past and I want to thank you again for your selfless aid.

        Regards,

My specs show .394 Intake lift, .400 exhaust lift, Intake and exhaust duration 287, rocker ratio 1.50 - I bought mine from Performance Chevy here in Phoenix who used to run ads in the Driveline - ask for Bill.
