rear storage compartment lens-flexible?

I have a new reproduction center storage compartment liner and, as shown in the photo, it does not fit the (original) lens. The lens does not feel like it is designed to bend. Is it flexible or would it break? Has anybody else had this problem?

Mike, I just looked at two spare comparment liners that I have with lenses and your lense looks similar. The fiberboard bend looks too severe.

I replaced the center storage liner in my 74' about two months ago and had this same issue with the poor fit of the original lens. I was able to slightly recontour the liner semicircle to better fit the arc of the lens and crimped the lens hard to the liner during reassembly. I did not try to bend the lens. The fit was not perfect but I don't think the original fit was perfect. The replacement storage liner, otherwise, seemed to be identical to the original in all respects.
