Re: Mid year Radio repair
Jim;
Get with Jerry Rudbeck www.electrodesign.US
It is not just a matter of getting the radio to work but to work properly. Jerry does an excellent job!.. He did the radio in my 1965 and also restored my 1963 wonderbar radio. He makes sure it is absolutely correct.. little things like having the station which you are listening to match the dial! Also, you may well want to replace the speaker...the wrong speaker can cook a vintage radio!! He can tell you where to get a correctly matched speaker as well.
Most of the radios which we deal with have been "butchered" in the past.. Jerry will make it right again.. Nice guy to boot...
Have fun,
Joel

Jim, if you want to stop over some time, you can listen to my radio and see if you like it. Sent it through Bob here locally to his favorite guy.Chris Enstrom

Re: Mid year Radio repair
Jerry is the best, his radio restoration coupled with the proper speaker they sell now with the proper tranformer is great. Jerry also installed an MP3 plug in mine, I can hook anything from an XM radio to an MP3 player, to a CD player through it. He also did my '68 Shelby GT500KR AM/8-track and I am sending my '56 T-bird Town and Country radio to him too. He can do anthing and is a wizard.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: Mid year Radio repair
I had the new guts installed in my 72 radio 5 years ago. It lasted about 5 months. It was done by a recommended radio guy who is now in FL. I returned it once for another issue and it didn't last the 2nd time either.
I met a radio guy at Carlisle who had a big booth with a lot of radios & conversions. He knew the one I had installed, guess it's pretty common and the cost is about the same- $400. I wanted to get it to him but I'm not sure of his name now, thing it was Mike Hagen or something like that. Anyone know for sure?? He seemed to know exactly what the issue was with this conversion and the first guy didn't.- Top

Jerry rebuilt/restored the radio in my 65 and the Wonderbar in my 60. He boosted the performance and added an I-Pod jack to both. He is definitely the best there is. I highly recommend him.- Top

Many years ago (before I joined NCRS), I was looking for some help with an FI unit. I called the administrative people at Carlisle looking for knowledgeable vendors and they gave me John DeGregory's name. They were very helpful and thier info was dead on. I'm sure they can find the vendor that you're thinking of.

Re: Mid year Radio repair
Thanks Paul, I'm not in a rush and I plan on being at Carlisle again this year to hold a seminar. I remember he was near the guys at Muskegon Brake and has been there for many years I believe. I'll just pull my radio out in August and bring it down. There is only a board in it now so he can probably tell what's up with it then.- Top
