Wayne, nice picture. I believe Jack Murray owned it at that time.

Correct, and the same car. It looked a lot better in 1987. I saw it last summer and did not like the paint. Jack bought it from the original owner.

Jim, I never understood why the chassis was restored on that car. It's an 8k mile car. That being said, I would love to own it.

Probably the same reason it was restored on the 1500 mile 65.

we judged two of these cars at the nationals last year. both of them were coupes. neither one had the special rear spring. how did that happen? another one of these showed up at the kissimmee show to be judged. if i remember correctly it was pulled from the show because of a build date issue. seems the car was built before the ls6 cars were or something like that. the owner claims it was probably the prototype ls6. i am thinking probably not.

Mike, define "these cars." This thread has covered a lot of ground and it is not at all clear which Corvettes mentioned above you are referring to. Please also be more specific about the "special spring" you speak of.

i mean the 71 zr2 ls6 cars. 2 of these were at the charlotte nationals. the rear springs on both cars were standard 9 leaf springs. if part of the zr2 package was a special suspension one would think it would have the f41 7 leaf spring. the 70 zr1 with "special suspnetion" was the f41 suspention. the 70 zr1 that was there had the 7 leaf spring. the yellow zr2 wanabe at kissimmee at least had the correct rear spring. i just thought it was interesting that both cars had the wrong rear spring. thats all.

The ZR2 option REQUIRED F41 suspension as part of the Special Purpose Engine Package. "Standard" LS6 card did not require F41 suspension - I've seen at least one LS6 Coupe that was delivered without it, so I suspect there are many others.

All ZR1's were F41 equipped, sans the rear anti-sway bar, but with all other HD parts.

I asked because this thread has veered from ZR1 to ZR1 and back to ZR2 with a little LS6 thrown in. It is hard to keep track of what is referred to when general terms are used.

I guess you should ask the car owners if they received a deduction for their non-TFP rear springs. Or maybe one of the chassis judges will speak up here.

The rear sway bar was not part of the F-41 option; it was part of the big block option.

The rear sway bar first became part of the HD suspension option for the 1975 model year. However, the option designation changed from F-41 to FE-7 at that time. Basically, FE-7 was the same as F-41 but with a rear sway bar and different front and rear sway bar OD's.

Yes, that was Jack Murray's car. We were parked next to it at Laguna Seca. Was that 1988? 89?

Thanks for the clarification, Joe. Many people believe that C3 ZR1's came with a rear anti-sway bar. Just trying to keep the record straight!

The 65 looks good, Wayne. Did you drive down or trailer?
