Here is my situation. I have a '65 numbers matching 396 convertible. The car looks fantastic, was body-off restored and runs great. I got the car 2 years ago from ProTeam. It has won most car shows entered and several prestigous "Best of Shows". My dilemma: When the previous owner, (before ProTeam), had it restored he paid huge dollars for a gorgeous non-original paint color; Rallye Red instead of the original Silver Pearl. Can you believe it? Carr Campbell of Carr's Corvettes who is a NCRS quality restoration expert said he thinks the car is too nice to repaint.
My question; if the car is practically original except for the paint is there any hope of getting a "Top Flight".
