    1967 grill screws

Can someone tell me or post a picture of the correct screws that are used to attach the 1967 grill to inner fender and top panel.

    Thanks in advance, Tim

2 long screws for top and bottom center attaching points, 4 short screws for grill bracket to fender skirt attaching points and hex bolt for grill rod to header bar. These are originals.

Rich, Is the "D" headmark the only one or most common for that bolt? Shooter

        Henry,

the D is the most common. Others I have seen are anchor, RBW, E and a few more. If I remember correctly the JM calls out for the D headmarking.

Thanks Rich, I appreciate the pictures. The phillips screws with washers almost look like door screws. I need to check my stash, are all seven of these screws 1/4" thread?

              Tim,

I believe the six Screws with attached washers are 1/4-20 x 5/8". If I have the correct Grille center rod upper Screw, it measures 1/4-14 x 3/4". It looks just like the one Rich posted, with the "D" headmark, no grade lines, indented hex washer face.

                Thanks Scott,

So would this grill screw have a 3/8"or 7/16" hex (wrench size) across the flats? I think I have one with E headmarking but need to double check the thread and hex size.

                  Tim,

The Grill rod screw that I have takes a 3/8" wrench size. If Rich sees these recent posts, hopefully he will be able to confirm (or correct) the measurements I have posted, to make sure we're all on the same (correct) page. I just recently found what I think is my original grill rod center screw (mentioned above, "D" headmark, 1/4-14 x 3/4"), it was mixed in with the bag of fasteners from my C60 battery access panel.

Got to wondering about mine. I was pretty sure I had one like Rich posted with a "D" or "E" headmark because I remembered seeing it in my "bolt bag" when I had them replated. Below is what I found. It looks similar to a hood support bolt but I don't they are as long. Any idea where this one goes? Thanks.

Here are the "E" and "D" headmark bolts I thought was used on the grill bracket but they both have grade marks. And as Steve pointed out, originals didn't have them.

My 67 still has it's original in that location and I can't see a headmarking but otherwise it looks exactly like Rich's photo, I will take a digital pic and post.

The flat washer is fixed and attached to the bolt head.

                          Henry,

The bolt in your photo (post #10) looks like it's 5/16-18 x 1-1/8" with a 3/4" O.D. attached washer, bolt head measuring 1/2" across the flats. Is that correct?

Edit: I meant 1-1/16" on the bolt length (not 1-1/8"), measured from underside of bolt head to the pointed tip.

Tim, if possible could you check the wrench size? I thought it was supposed to be a 3/8" across-the-flats bolt, and that's what mine is, but I read in another Thread that it should be 7/16".

Scott, That bolt head is 3/8" across the flats, I will get a picture and post.
