Joe and Bill, Corvette News Vol.5, no.1 shows a 3.36:1 posi available with the 340 and 360 engines even though they only got the close-ratio 4 speed. That is new for 1962. Solid lifters in 1961 and earlier got 3.70, 4.11, 4.56 only with their close-ratio 4-speed.

I double checked and I think you're correct. One GM reference I have indicated that the 3.36:1 ratio was not available with 4 speed. As a matter of fact, I could not understand why since both 3.08:1 and 3.55:1 were available with 4 speed. However, another GM reference I checked says that 3.36:1 was available with 4 speed. This makes more sense to me.

          Re: 62 Question

The '62 sales brochure indicates 3.36 was available with 340, along with all of the other ratios.

Also remember that back in those days if your dealer was a high volume dealer most anything could be ordered for the right price. My dad ran a Chevy store in the 60's and we saw lots of things come on cars that was not in the literature.
