    1968 Door Weather Stripping

I will be replacing my 1968 convertible door weather stripping and was wondering if there is a company that makes a repoduction weather strip that is superior to all others. I looked at the product offered by Paragon and the end at the front of the door glass does not look like what I have on the car. I'm not sure what is on the car is original but it looks like it could be 40 + years old. I did a search in the archives and found nothing that helped. It would be great to see what a for sure original looks like. Thanks in advance for you help.

    Hi Terry
I don't think anyone repops the original thickness of the original assembled door weather strips. I've been collecting for a very long time and only NOS from weather strip in the old GM bags are right on. I think dated 68 to 75 is the original types. Then you have later ones and the rubber is a little thinner not quite as dense. Probably dated 78 to 82.( Also made from Canada) After the 80's the GM rubber is thin and looks like crap. Looks mostly like repops thin and useless. However it is possible Corvette Rubber may only make the rubber similar to the early 80's also thin and not so original.

I put originals thick GM ones on my 68 and they seal perfect.
    Hope this helps

      Hi Grant,

I ordered the weather seals from Corvette Rubber. They have a good website but unfortunately lack pictures of the product, or at least things that I was interested in. I'll take a chance and see how they compare to the ones on the car now. The order should be here early next week. Thanks for your help.
