    starting my fresh engine

Im looking to start this soon and I'm looking for advice on how to rig the starter switch. The engine and tranny will be in the frame with no body and wondering how to engage the starter. I'll rig a temp gage in the head. Has anyone done this? Thanks folks!!

    Guy -

I've always done my pre-runs the same way, with a temporary (2x4's) cowl to carry ignition electrics and basic instruments, with one junction block for 12V and another for ground to connect things to. Photos below are my tube-frame Grand Sport replica in 1995.

      John,

Please don't tease us like this. Did you forget to attach a photo or am I just not seeing it?

Thanks guys. Dave, thats good advice as Im a bit nervous to pull the trigger. Ill need to jump on the tranny right away to get the extra 7 quarts in it timely if I can keep it running. No sence not doing it with the body off. Thanks again!!

            John,

OK, I submitted a thread on the help forum about this. Now that I thought about it a little more, it seems like this has been a problem on here before. But I don't remember what the fix is, if there was one. I'm really very curious to see your setup. Would you be willing to email it to me?

            Thanks,
            Joe

                John,

It was my security settings at work. I can see the pictures just fine at home. Thanks for emailing them to me. That sure looks like a fun project! Did you race it?

I built it primarily for street use - raced it once at the KIT CAR magazine "Run 'n Gun" 2-day event at Norwalk in 1996. Fun car - 2340# wet, 440hp 383.

                    John,

That is one sweet power to weight ratio! It must be a blast to drive. Do you still have it?

Nope - sold it in 1999 to a collector on Nantucket Island.
