Mitral valve repair, not replacement is the current plan. I hope Vanderbilt and / UAB agree.

My wife has a bad feeling about Cleveland Clinic, and I should have listened to her. One thing I realized from this experience is that we need to be closer to home. My wife had absolutely no support when this issue came up. Vanderbilt and UAB are both 2 hours from home, and both have good reputations for this surgery.
Things will work out for the best, Ed.

    Keep me/us posted.

Ed, best of luck when you do have your procedure. I am sure you will do just fine. I wondered why I hadn't seen your posts in awhile.

As for the pig valves; I have a friend who has one and it works just fine, but he has developed a craving for corn

Thanks for all of the well wishes, and the laughs.

I am searching for a heart surgeon closer to home (Birmingham or Nashville). Both cities have Heart Centers of Distinction.

I want this done soon and behind me. Not exactly the same as a valve job on a small block chevy, but the concept is similar.

Even though you're running 'unleaded', you probably don't want hardened seats.

Thanks Mark. I'll be there, hopefully with a repaired heart.

You know, it started out as a tuneup, and then "as long as I am in here I might as well restore this too", and before you know it.....
