    Re: Ballast Resistor location

    Hi Jason,
I posted a picture of the ballast resistor location on my 57 bowtie car. Car is a 1x4 base engine car. It is noted in the new 56-57 Corvette Information Manual and Judging Guide on page 73 that on very late cars the resistor was relocated higher up under the rear surround lip. Your second picture could possibly show this location thought it look to be upside down.
    Hope this helps
    Dave

Looks like yours, John's and David's are closer to the wiper motor and relatively in the same location compared to the two I have posted. I know my dad replaced ours at one point. I would say that the three posted are a good point for it to be located

                Re: Ballast Resistor location

As David Smith indicated, the late '57's have the resistor mounted horizontally, tucked up under the lip of the rear surround.

                  Re: Ballast Resistor location

There are two locations: 1) 56 all to late 57 VIN #'s. Dave Smith's posted photo is a good example of the lower 56-7 location, 2) moved to up under the hood lip supposedly to help keep the water off of it. Earliest VIN # in my file for the under hood lip mounting is #5877. FWIW,
