Oil Change for my '65 C2

What is the best oil product to buy to change the oil in my '65? Where do I find it as I understand it needs to have Zinc in it? Valvoline? Also, the filter as well.
How often do you change the oil & filter if it is only an occasional every other Sunday driver for about 10 minutes or so.

    Dean,

You sound like a man who needs to read the Duke Williams engine oil article. Here it is, scroll down to page 3:

Network Solutions - Original domain name registration and reservation services with variety of internet-related business offerings. Quick, dependable and reliable.

Bottom line, you need API CJ-4 oil. It's available at Wally-Mart, they have their own house brand. Or you can use Shell Rotella and others.

How many miles do you drive in a year? If it's less than 3K, you can probably get by with changing the oil in the fall before storage. That's assuming you live in a cold climate. I didn't think to look at your profile.

I hear Wix filters are good.

I use Shell Rotella 15W 40 and buy the gallon jugs at WalMart.

Agree on CJ-4, any brand will do, I buy the cheapest, lately it has been Motorcraft. Wix filter is the only way to go. NAPA has their Goldline filter which is Wix. It has a metal retaining screen, the others have a cardboard one, not good. The Wix also beats the filtration capacities (microns filtered out) of the others hands down. Good luck on getting the old filter can gasket off the by-pass valve seat up on the engine.

Dean, there's tons and tons on this in the archives.

With your mileage, you can go two to three years between oil changes. See the archives under oil shelf life, engine oil, etc.

Many others that drive infrequently change it annually for whatever reason, but they're not making thier engine last any longer.

That's not even enough time to get the exhaust up to full temp to get all the moisture out of it. You could be doing more harm than good with drives that short. I would do 20mins minimum.

I've seen allot of collector cars ran like that and they get warm, attract moisture, get warm, attract more moisture, etc. and rust out the exhaust from the inside out. It's better to not start it at all until you can put a good little short drive on it.

                Dean,
I did a lot of research and decided to use Joe Gibbs synthetic HR 10W30 oil in my 63. More expensive, but cheap compaired to anything else I spend on the SWC.
