    For 63, it's Z zero 6. I don't know about the new stuff.

The new Corvettes are also Z-zero-6. See this link: http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette-z06/

Although, no matter what the year of reference, when someone says it it's always been pronounced Zee-Oh-Six. I've never heard it said Zee-Zero-Six. Written as Z06, pronounced ZO6.

        Clear as mud, right?

It's numeric zero, not the letter "O", but Americans are in the poor habit of referring to zero as "oh".

Computers know better. There is a definite difference.

            Hello;
How do our Canadian members say Z oh 6 (Z zero 6) ?
I often heard "Zed28" from Canadians.

I say "Zee oh 6" but have always said "Zed28". I guess "Zed28" would be correct now a days seeing as they will all made in Canada.

                Its Z "zero" 6.

As I remember, the Z series were Chevrolet specific option codes starting with 01 and up.

I believe the 0 is used for numbers below 10 so the number is always transcribed correctly.

I think all option codes from that era used the same system. One letter followed two numerals. A31, N14, L84 etc.

                      That's how I found my Z zero 7. I searched for Z oh 7 2...

                        Zed 28

I do make a concession and don't pronounce it Zed Zed Top.

Agree... I would speculate the the pronuciation of "0" as "oh" may have evolved over time from the european pronuciation of "0" as "ott".

I've always refered to my 30-06 deer rifle as a 30 "ott" 6. I may have imagined this, but I believe I've heard audio of Zora pronuciating the Z06 option as Z "ott" 6.

This Canadian votes 'Zed 28', but 'Zeee oh six'; no rules apply.

My father was an engineer on the Canadian Pacific Railway, and zeros were called "naught', as in "twenty-two naught three"; maybe not now, but back in the 50's.

It's actually "aught" or "naught", as Wayne said, which were in common use before Americans started destroying the Engish language after the thrity-aught-six round was developed in 1906, which is the source of the "aught-six".

I have some bad stories about people using "oh" to express zero. Fortunately, it just resulted in some inconvenience for me rather than starting a global thermonuclear war.

When it looks like a zero, I say ZERO, not oh, like zee-zero-six and two-zero-five/seventy-five-fifteen tires.
