    Early 67 standard steering column

I have an early 67 (sept 66 production) corvette with a standard steering column. I am questioning the correctness of the cancelling cam and upper spring that came out of my column. The cancelling cam plastic is black plastic part number 3900516 with the canceling nubs at the 11:00 and 4:00 o'clock positions(with the horn contact at 12:00). The reproduction cam from Trim Parts is white plastic and the 2 cancelling nubs are st the 1:00 and 2:00 0'clock positions) My spring stands at about 1" and the reproduction is about 7/8". I am told that my parts came from a 67 telescopic column. I am wondering if the difference has to do with early vs late 67 column parts?
Any help on this is appreciated.

    Neal -

Other than an added groove and retainer ring, the early-vs.-late design didn't affect the top end of the column; only the bearing arrangement at the bottom end. The cancelling cams were different between the standard and tele columns - the standard column used #3900515, and the tele column used #3901618.

      Hi John,
Thanks for the your reply. I re-checked the numbers on my cancelling cam and the numbers on the one from Trim Parts. Mine is #3900516(you indicated that for a standard column it should be #3900515?). The one from Trim Parts has 2 numbers on it i)#399296 W.O./T. WTE; and ii) 3900516 W./T. BLK. I then called Paragon( that is where I purchased the Trim Parts cancelling cam) and spoke to Brian in tech. support. He said that they have some original ones to compare to and that the 3900516 cancelling cam I have has the same numbers as one they have that came out of a telescopic column. The Trim Part one I bought from them is what Paragon uses to rebuild standard columns. Nevertheless if I am interpreting the part numbers on the back of the Trim Parts cancelling cam correctly it seems that it is universal and will fit either a telescopic (#3900516 W./T/ BLK) or a standard column(#399296 W.O./T. WTE.)
      Yikes!
