1970 350/300 engine bay pic request

I need some good pics just to make sure of some of the correct finishes and components.

    Hi Steve,
I see you're a new member. Welcome, and I hope to see you on the Discussion Board often.
Have you purchased the 70-72 TECHNICAL INFORMATION MANUAL & JUDGING GUIDE? There's a wealth of info in it.
Although I can't think of any 70 photos, you might want to find members Kevin Goodman (71&72), and Patrick Hulst (72), in the members list. If you go to their page you'll see some links to large caches of photos they've taken of their BowTie cars. A good bit of what you see there will apply to your 70 too.
    Regards,
    Alan

Hi Steve, here's some of my 70 Duntov winner. Not 100% correct (incorrect air filter screen pattern and not oil wetted, modern alternator belt, and stainless steel french locks to name a few) but pretty close.

And I agree with Alan - you really need the 70 JG for detailed info.

      Good Luck

A few items, like the air cleaner and distributor ignition shield, will depend on your car's serial number. An approximate serial number range for the change over may be given in the 70-72 TIM&JG.

Pat's pictures are excellent examples of early 70 350/300. Late 70s will have the closed-element dual-snorkel air cleaner and one piece distributor ignition shield like 71s. ALL late changes shown in the final version of the 70 AIM, however, DID NOT make it into 70 production; e.g. hard vacuum tubing across the firewall...shown in the AIM, but not installed on 70s to my knowledge.

Chuck my original owner 70 built 7/18/70 does not have the hard vacuum tubing. Does have the dual snorkel air cleaner and one piece distributor cover. Does not have ignition/spark plug shielding that has to be removed to change out the two front spark plugs on drivers side and passenger side. Does have them for the rear spark plugs.

I've noted before that our cars were fairly close timewise.

Mine was built July 30 and was/is equipped exactly as you describe your car. I'm thinking the TIM&JG says most of those changes happened sometime between 12000 and 14000.

The first couple of years of ownership were pretty confusing trying to figure out why my car was different from the parts being sold by vendors (a lesson never to be forgotten). Plus...the first JG I bought as a new member was pretty thin; it left a LOT to the "discretion of the judges".

Since EOP was July 31, I'm fairly confident no 70s got the hard vacuum tubing shown in the AIM, but I suppose it could have happened if they were going to run out of rubber hose harnesses.
