    Doug,
The fan appears to me to be GM # 3843346 used from 1964-1969.

Dave -- do you have any examples of the 1966990 or the 1969448 mentioned in the '68 Tech Service Bulletin mentioned above ?

        Wayne,

I posted a photo of a 1966990 alternator fan on May 15th @ 4:12 PM. I have another alternator fan which I have not identified. I will check it out.

Thanks Michael. I have been trying to use the AIM during assembly but I guess I missed that page.

I agree, the fan looks exactly like the fan on the right in Wayne's photo. The pulley may also be unique to FI cars. I had my alternator overhauled and the shop removed my pulley in the process and installed an incorrect pulley. I put a post on the TDB asking why the alternator and engine fan pullys didn't line up. The responses alerted me to that swap that I had not noticed. I then went back to my orignal photos, took one showing the thick pully to the overhaul shop and got my orioginal pully back and installed. I'm probably lucky they still had it. Now I pay a lot more attention to what I am sending out vs what I get back.

            Wayne,

            CORRECTED:

Pictured are 3 alternator fans. I believe they are GM # 1966448, 1969990, and 800594 but I am not exactly positive which is which. I think that 1969448 has the "hook", 1966990 does not have the "hook", and 800594 has the "notch".

I believe that the "hook" creates the "moan" noise but I may be wrong.

Also, a link to the 68-T-63 service bulletin.
