According to the TIM & JM, 72' base engine used a 6 1/8" balancer. I have a 72', B23 with a 6 3/4" balancer, block date 1 81, has a/c, p/s, p/b, balancer date H 1 F, 2221, (rear of balancer #83766). The balancer date, H=august, 1=1971. Any input why my balancer is not according to the TIM & JM. Steve

1972 Corvettes with base engine used balancer GM #6272221 and that balancer was 6-3/4" OD. You definitely have the correct and very likely original balancer as indicated by the part number derivative (2221) and the date.
I'd say we need to revise the Judging Guide. That's another one I missed when I reviewed the draft of the current JG. I'm ashamed of myself (again). In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Joe,
No need to feel bad or apologize for any shortcomings of the TIM & JM. It's an evolving document that, for me, I'm just happy to have to get me steered in the right direction. The folks who have put this together have really done an outstanding job and there is a vast majority out here (including me) that greatly appreciate it!
Best Regards,
