Open for suggestions, 1967 390hp, after driving it smells like gas inside the cab, car starts right up no matter if you leave it set 5 or 60 minutes. No leaks anywhere. The gas smell does go away after leaving it set a couple of hours. It does smell like gas if you open the gas door, but not the gas lid. I see they sell a gasket for under the fuel neck, but if that was bad wouldn't it smell all the time?

First plan of action: replace the gasket between the filler neck and tank AND replace the special screws with integral seal which attach the filler neck to the tank.
The reason that you may notice a gasoline odor after driving is that fuel slosh causes fuel and vapor to pass a deteriorated gasket. When the car sits for awhile any gas which has gotten by the gasket evaporates and, without slosh, no gasoline gets to the gasket.
By the way, the original gasket is cork. Cork works OK. However, I prefer a gasket made from a gasoline-resistant rubber like Buna-N.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
