I have a 1119003 voltage regulator dated "8J" (Sept. 1958, I assume). My 1957 Chevrolet Parts Catalog lists the 1119003 regulator (30 amp) for 56-57 Chevrolets & Corvettes in Gr. 2.500. My 1963 Chevrolet Parts Catalog does not list the 1119003 regulator at all but does list the 1119261 regulator (also 30 amp) for 55-59 Chevrolets & Corvettes as well as certain other 60-62 Chevrolet & Corvette models.
According to Chevrolet Parts History (in the 63 parts catalog) GM # 1119001 was replaced in July 1960 with GM # 1119261. I do not have any 1958-1962 Chevrolet parts catalogs or parts history information to determine when GM # 1119003 was discontinued.
My question is what happened to GM # 1119003? I assume GM # 1119003 was also replaced by GM # 1119261 but I have no documentation. Does anyone have a 1959 Chevrolet parts catalog?
I have looked through the archives and have found that the 1119003 regulator was thought by some NCRS members to be only a service replacement but I have my doubts. GM # 1119003 does NOT appear in any of my 1963 and later Chevrolet parts catalogs.
My 1960 Chevrolet truck parts catalog lists only 3 regulators: 1119261 (30 amp), 1119002 (35 amp), and 1119610 (40 amp).
