How would I find out what choke is correct for a 2818s WCFB carb? I recently purchased a rebuilt 2818s and the choke does not have any part number or an index mark, but it is a Carter Climatic Control choke.

Re: Carter Climatic Contol Choke Part Numbers
Joe,
Based on my research the choke cover for a 2818S WCFB is "170-AB-610S" and the choke housing has a "170-583" casting number.

Re: Carter Climatic Contol Choke Part Numbers
The back of the choke housing has the correct number, but the cover is wrong. Must decide whether I want to spend $107 for the NOS choke cover and spring. The incorrect cover has a lightly stamped "R 598" on the side of the bakelite cover. Not sure what choke assembly the cover should go with.- Top

Re: Carter Climatic Contol Choke Part Numbers
Joe,
I looked through my AEA (Automotive Electric Association) Original Equipment Electrical and Fuel Systems catalog dated 1967 and could not find anything about your "R 598" choke cover. This is the catalog where I got the information about the "170-AB-610S" choke cover.
My 1963 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1962) also shows that the 170-AB-610S choke cover (GM # 3760675 in Gr. 3.750) was used on the 59-61 Pass., Corvette w/Carter 4BC (283).
