RBW is one that's seen a lot.

      Haven't seen any documented cars mid 66 & 7 w/o the RBW.

Skip the repro - wrong and easily spotted.

      Then you see others.

        Alan,

known original headmarkings for 67 are RBW, TR (small design), P and SBC. I have a customer with a 7000 mile 67 435 car unrestored with SBC bolts. Now remember these are the shrot grade 2 bolts. If the car is equipped with a radio then you will need 4 grade 5 bolts 1/8" longer. Headmarks SBC, RBW, SB, NAT, SB, P and a few more I'm sure I am forgetting.

        Hope this helps, Rich.

          Rich,
Is that 4 per side? as in the valve cover clips for the radio shielding.

            Ron,

4 bolts total so 10 grade 2, and 4 grade 5. The radio ground wire looms are doubbled up on 67's. 66's with the 7/16" hex head bolts would have 14 grade 2 as they still used the barrels.

              Rich,
I must see a lot of wrong cars, haven't seen a 67 doubled up in such a long time I forgot about that!

So what did STL do with the vlave cover bolts they took out?

Or did they ship the engine with those 4 points empty?

They pitched them in a box to return them to Tonawanda, but I doubt any of them ever made the trip.

We had one notorious case of a 1970 that had some of the removed screws still in the valleys of the intake manifold. We were very happy to give that car a Survivor(R) Award.

John, I missed you at the Michigan Chapter Swap Meet. I brought the early C3 AIM pages for you to 'splain some of this to me. It kind of looks to me like for 1968 they didn't replace the bolts. It looks like the longer replacements started in model year 1969, if one can believe the AIMs. I don't have the 1967 AIM to compare.

                    Terry -

The '67 AIM (U69, sheet A9) shows the two Tonawanda bolts on each side removed and replaced with #180018.

Yes that is the same as 1969, but 1968 doesn't show the replace with 180018. Looking at the 1968 AIM it would make one think they simply re-used the Tonawanda bolts.
