Date Code for 63 Suppy Tank

I am looking for the correct date code on the Supply Tank (expansion tank). Car was born on Nov. 3, 1962. Best reproduction?

Yes the best solution. Dwitt's products are excellent IMO. I wonder if Tom's process tig welds the pipes on the inside before the halves get tig welded. It says the pipes are press fit like original but we know what can happen to those over time.

I have had one for about 18 years or so from them and it is welded on the inside, but shows rolled on the outside. My original gave way in the 70's and I replaced it with a NOS at the time with the external welded connections, but wanted the correct look.

Speaking of rolled connections, wonder how many L-76's had to replace their oil fill tubes as well. That fitting takes a lot of physical abuse every time you remove/replace the air cleaner. I've had to change mine twice.

Stu, Before your reply I sent a note to Tom asking if he welded the inside. I just got a reply that yes he does weld the pipes on the inside.

However, he did state that some folks still manage to break them off.

Just want to confirm what the date should be? Did they skip any letters? I assume and I63 or J63 is what they will send.

I63 or J63 will be great if you have a 1964......

Loren, you may have missed it...... he has a early '63 built 11/3, '62. I think originals were made in batches, but I'm not sure which months. I62 or J62 would fit though.

Greg, I would give Dewitt's a call. They should recommend the one you need based on your build date.

A friend of mine has an early October built 63 and his tank as well as most of the other dated items on his car (Carburator, intake manifold, engine block, alternator) are all J.

My car was built on Monday, October 29, same week as yours. The tank is the same one that was on it when I bought it in 1983 and is dated;

62 J

The "62" is before the "J" and there is about enough space for three or four digits between them.

Looks like you may have the dreaded "Friday afternoon" car to bookend my "Monday morning" car.

As I recall, the "I" character wasn't used on any Harrison stamped date codes.
