I have a '64 coupe that is headed to the body shop for a paint job. As part of this process, I'm replacing the rocker panels and the door handles. According to the various part's centers, there's a difference between the 63-early 64 and late 64-67. Nobody in any of these part's centers knows the cut off date between early 64 and late 64. Can anyone tell me what this magical date was?

Re: Early '64 Cut Off Date
According to an extensive survey by Nolan Adams the change from the four hole sill to the six hole sill came somewhere between 17602 and 18417.
The grab bar changed from four hole to six hole somewhere between 12794 and 13351.
The Door Handle build up changed somewhere around 15395.
There is NO magic date for running changes because of inventory, shift changes, backorders etc. etc.
The survey gives a clear cut time for the approximate changes.

Re: Early '64 Cut Off Date
Mike, I have a Mar64 with raised door handles so if your are before that check your doors. In fact the handle style will be determined by your door configuration. (now if you have a latter 64 say April on with raised door pads you now need to question the door) Do not have cut off date with me but check your AIM for a date if needed.- Top

Re: Early '64 Cut Off Date
Joe/Alan,
I just checked my car and I do have four hole sills and a four hole grab bar so it's an early 64. Of course, if I just thought to look at the SN, I would have noticed that it's 04187. Duh. However, I do appreciate your input.- Top
