Is this '62 grill Live or Memorex?

    Hi,
I stripped the black paint of my grill and repaired the breaks, I believe that it is a reproduction that was probably installed when the car was first restored by the PO in about 1990?
There is some casting flash on the back, and the openings don't look to be cut with great precision in some areas, can anyone tell me for sure that it's a repro?

    Thanks,

    Paul

Paul, the back of yours looks like my NOS grille. On the right side of the photo below you can see how the bars have a jog in the casting. I have some better detail photos somewhere and will post them later......Rich

Looks real and right to me. GM's tooling on those was never great--that looks to me like an original, not even a later GM over the counter piece.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen, and thanks for the pics Richard.
It surprises me to learn that you both suspect it to be not only a GM piece, but also the original Mike? As was mentioned, certain areas of the back do look quite crudely done...
From what I have determined, the car probably has about 100K miles on it total, yet the front of the grill shows no evidence of road rash? I would have thought that an original 100K mile grill would have that peppered look to the surface?

PS. From the factory they were either black anodized or gold anodized, never gold painted black correct?
