    c2 Convt. striker finish???

My rear hatch strikers were painted body color, is this correct? This is a 1967 and the strikers I'm talking about are the ones that are held by 4 screws that attach to the rear fender wells. All input will be appriciated.

    George,

Do you have a judging manual? Much detailed info contained that would most likely answer your question. Door strikers were in place when car was painted however they were covered by a mask. Deck lid strikers may have had the same process. Manual should cover that process.

George, paint coverage can vary from none to just about complete coverage. They were assembled prior to painting as is the mating latch release, cables and catches on the deck lid.

          George -

If you're talking about the deck lid latch trip plates that are riveted to the side gutter flanges (Assembly Manual, UPC 1-Bolt/Weld, sheet B6, item #2), they were stainless steel, and were riveted in place prior to paint.

Thanks for the input but these are attached by four bolts to a plate attached to the rear fender wells.

              George -

OK, the body side latch strikers - they were dip-primed black, then installed in the Body Shop, then got body color coverage that varied from overspray to full paint.
