    C1 Windshield Post Shims

My first windshield replacement. It appears to me that the shims under the windshield posts are there to compensate for the difference between the post tabs and the bottom chanel that bolts on TOP of the post tab. The correct number of shims would be the same as the thickness of the tab. I know this is an old issue. Any thoughts?

    Patrick,
The shims actually help to compensate for the thickness of the lower seal between the windshield frame and the body. The number of shims needed is best determined by mocking the lower seal to the bottom of the windshield frame, and then stacking the rubber shims until they are flush with or just slightly thicker than the lower seal. Usually, 2 on each side will do the trick.
