    1969 GMAC Brass Paperweight

Ralph Spears asked me to post this PIC. I'm always pleasantly amazed at the 'stuff' Ralph had the foresight to keep. I enjoy seeing historic artifacts from the day.

They sent out some real neat stuff to the dealers. But the best was the matching pair of 18k gold Rolex watches, his and hers, to the top dealer in each zone. This was sometime in the late '70's or early '80's. The dial had the Chevrolet Bowtie embossed on it.

That would be beyond cool. Maybe Joe D. has one for sale.

For those that may not know, Ralph was the 68/69 Team Leader when this manual was produced. I was only 8 years old.

Only pair I ever saw, Billy Stevenson had them for sale at BG. Have kicked my *** ever since for not buying them. $12k never worn. The gentleman 18k Presidential was over $10k alone, and if I can remember correctly, the ladies was somewhere around $6,500 at that time.

I asked Joe D one time about them and he told me he had never had a set, only heard about them

Great looking watch, Tom. You've got Papa Smurf salivating.

Naw, past that point. Got two Rolexs now and don't even wear a watch anymore. Just occupying space in the safety deposit box.

Re: A little off topic. 1966 Pontiac Motor Division Ashtray

Just a little off topic of Corvettes, but thought some people may be interested. This was presented to Pontiac Motor Division assembly plant employee's in 1966. The Ponitac and GTO guys would probably like something like this in their collection. Has anybody seen one before? Dave

Another neat piece was the laser cut Fisher Body coach. For the era it was made in, the detail was fantastic

Here is the his / hers set as they were presented. The dealers in this zone gathered in a hotel in Cincinnati. There were armed guards present to add to the excitement and the winners were brought into a room where the watches were sized. They also come with some very unique GM paperwork. You can also see the Chevrolet medallions on the upper box lids.

This is no Rolex but it does show that Goodyear was a little optimistic when they announced the new tire design for the 1983 Corvette at the Riverside press conference........

Tom, do you keep the watch in your desk drawer?
