    Some ID Help Pleez

I have a hose on my 1972 L46 breather can that looks just like the one in the attached photo. My question is in regard to the paper label shown. My hose has the very same label as in the photo and I'm not sure whether the paper label was on the originals (from the assy plant) or just on the service parts. Does anyone know?

Appreciate any help/guidance. Thanks in advance.

Don, I would say that its a label that was used to I.D. the part, If I remember my 72 hose has some of the part no. left on the under side of hose. ( yellow ink stamp).

This is a very typical serivce part label that was only necessary for GMPD to keep these in the correct bins and pick them to ship to dealers al over the country. Many many parts that come up for sale as NOS have these, even metal part like sta bars, etc. Most of the parts I can readially pout my hands on that have these labels have mid 1980's dates on the dealer ship-to tags.

I would not expect to see a paper label on a part to the factory as it would be a huge reduntant cost.

      IMHO - no way.

You just take it off and use the part as made.

        Nope, no label.

Don't you remember the original I showed at my seminar?

Of course I remember. My camera does too . This doesn't mean, however, that yours didn't fall off over the years.

Once we're all sure the paper label (not the yellow part ID document shown in the photo) was NOT on OEM hoses, I'll remove it. My hose doesn't have the yellow ink ID and I didn't see it on Patrick's either...

I've never seen a paper label on this type of hose. However, as Terry says, I've not seen all the hoses ever installed...

I only recall white lettering and/or striping, but again... see caveat above.

Short answer - if the sticker is on when I judge it, I'll deduct.

I would agree with Patrick if this was a Factory installed hose and had a label I would not expect it to have a Group Number on the label. Group numbers were for service replacement parts. Just my thoughts and I am ready to be corrected if needed.
