53-55 door knob balls different than 56-57?

I bought a couple used original interior door knob balls off eBay last week. The threads on the inside of my drivers door knob gave out after my 11yr old removed it too many times lol.

They arrived today and they look very different color and shine wise vs my originals. Mine are very white and shiny. These are an off white, like a Navajo white, and very flat in gloss. They are for sure originals too.

Are 53-55 knobs this off white and dull while 56-57 knobs are shiny and white? Or are these old balls just abused and put away wet

    Thanks!

Alexander, I have a Corvette Parts and Accessories Catalog from September 1971. In group 10.659 there is a number 4155046 called a catch. There are 2 required for each vehicle. The name of the group is "Knob, Door Ventilator Channel". The number above is the only number listed in this group and it is for '53 to '55 Corvettes. A drawing at the beginning of the group shows the interior of a '56 & '57 Corvette with an arrow pointing at the door knob showing this group number (10.659). I think that the knob for the '53 to '55 must be different. Looking in the new Paragon Catalog, it shows a picture of the white knobs being listed for '56 thru '62 only. I hope someone who is a guru on parts and part numbers will chime in. In the meantime I hope this will help you. I wish you all the best on your restoration. Brooks Glover (2141)

Alexander, my mistake, I picked up the wrong catalog. The latest Paragon catalog does not show a picture but lists knobs for '56 to '62. I still with someone with lots of knowledge of parts and part numbers would chime in. I would also like to know if the '53 to '55 knobs are different from '56 to '62 knobs. Brooks Glover (2141)

Sounds like you have the 53-55 knobs. They are an off white tennite plastic.

It is possible that there was a some difference in the early inside door pull knobs from 53-55 to 56-57. However, the parts catalogs only referenced one part number for replacement from 1953-62, described as white tennite, part number 4154376. As I recall, the ones I sold over the counter many years ago had a mid - gloss appearance, not flat or dull.
