This is one of those FWIW things for Chevy owners;
Not sure if this system, or one like it, was on the Vettes of 2000, but was wondering if anyone might know how to defeat/disable the system. My Impala driver has been acting up lately at some of the worst times. It just decides to disable my ignition and fuel system when I want to start the car (acts like bad battery connections). I get an occasional "Security" system indicator light while driving, my trip odometer changes back to total mileage indication between starts, and I swear I can smell a warm electrical condition inside after the car has sat overnight.
Aren't electronics wonderful? Yes, but after a few years down the road? not so good.
I foolishly called Chevy roadside assistance and ended up educating the young whipper snapper about cars while wasting my cell phone battery.
What finally worked for me was, turn start switch to ON, hold it there while it chimes; "BAT, security, security, security, BAT"; then move to START.
This is not in the driver's manual, and the young man told me they still don't have a fix for it!!! Eleven years later!!!
