62 Door Weatherstrip and Adhesive location Questions

I am looking at the AIM, section F sheet 12 showing the door main and axillary weatherstrip installation and adhesive and have a the following questions.

    On the aux weatherstrip:
    1. Does the adhesive go along the entire weatherstrip including the area where the 2 push in fasteners attach it to the leading edge of the door?

    2. Is the picture attached the correct push in fasteners?

    3. The AIM only shows 1 push in fastener, yet the weatherstrip has 2 holes. Should there be 2 fasteners?

    On the main section:
    4. Does the adhesive go along the entire weatherstrip including the areas where the push clips secure it or just the door post area?

    5. Is there adhesive under the end that attaches with a screw just under the glass garnish molding end cap?

    6. For the screw in question 4, what type of screw? Philips, size, finish?

Thanks for all of the help. The goal is to paint the vette by this weekend and then start putting it all together.

    Thanks again,

    Tony

Hard to get a close-up picture with my camera. There are two fasteners. They are only a few inches apart. One is at the end. I'm not going to chance breaking one to take out since I hope to get judged at the Lone Star Regional as original car (Bowtie?). It appears there is adhesive all along the weatherstrip and not the neatest job in some areas.

      Tony,

Apply the weatherstrip adhesive to both the weatherstrip and to the area where it will be attached. Follow the manufacturers instructions and wipe the surfaces with solvent before applying the adhesive.
I always get a fresh tube of 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive because if it sits around any length of time it will string when you brush it on.

Thanks Guys, that was very helpful.

On the door main weatherstrip, it has all of the push in pins to attach it to the door. Is adhesive also used to hold it in place, or just the push clips?

I can't tell, but I would use both.

            Tony,
Both the pins and adhesive are used.
Be sure to use plenty of adhesive or you will have problems.

              John,

These pictures were very helpful. Could you or someone, please post a picture showing the upper end of the auxiliary weatherstripping where it ends near the door post. I still have this piece to install and I am not sure exactly how and where it ends.

              Thanks,

              Tony

                  John,

perfect. The last picture showing the aux weatherstrip section was exactly what I needed.

                  Thanks again,

                    Tony--
John's car is an early car, and if I recall, yours is a later production car. Yours likely has one more clip (and one more hole in the door) on the main weatherstrip beteen the door post and the bend to the vertical front edge of the door.

                      Hi Mike,

Yes you are correct, mine is a late 62. I have the main weatherstrip installed correctly with that extra clip (the hole was in the door for he screw so I knew exactly where it went). I was unsure where the auxiliary weatherstrip ended near the door post and that is where Johns pic helped.

                      Have a great day,

                      Tony
