    '81 Choke Heater Problem

The choke light is on, and choke is not working.

I checked the voltage to the choke, and it indicates good, around 14 volts. However, it does not heat the choke spring. If I hook up a different battery (indicating 12.5 volts) directly to the choke, it does heat up the spring at the choke works fine.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Charlie

the wiring should go thru the oil pressure sender so make sure it is plugged onto the sender and the sender is working correctly when the oil pressure comes up. there is no power to the choke heater till the oil pressure comes up

Charles, the problem lies in the connection at the heater ,Sometimes they tend to rust where the electrical spad slides on to the electric heater assy. I have seen this many times.A litttle steel wool or fine sand paper to clean the connector.
