Looking at a 66

I am looking at a 1966 Triple Black roadster Original 427 425HP now has a late production 1967 425 400HP. Just looking so I don't have a lot of resources to look things up. Is the only correct set up for a 67 425 400HP Tri-Power carbs? Any way to use the original Holly by getting a GM intake that would fit the current engine. Currently has an Edelbrock that looks bad. Never be a Top Flight but I think I could have some fun with it. Need to verify K.O.'s and side exhaust. I'm guessing they are after market as well.

Tri power was the only carb configuration used on the 400hp engine. I've known of guys who ran square port intakes on oval port heads (thats what you would have to do to use a correct 66 L72 intake) although I'm sure there are negative effects on flow, not that most of us would probably notice anyhow.

The 400 hp engine and 390 hp engine are identical with the exception of Intake and carburetor. You could swap an oval port intake and holley carb and have a nice drivable four-barrel setup if that is what you are looking for.

Shoot, buy it for a bargain and then clean it up and drive the heck out of it and enjoy it! Not many origianl black on black cars with minimal miles on them that are left. My 2 cents worth.
