We have all seen this kind of thing many times before. I have found that if you tell your self something enuff times you start believe it.

My 1970 is #2161, and while it is early there are lots more before mine. I don't have all my notes here, but I once saw 1970 #44, an LT1. Both mine and that one had copper radiators. There are some earlier LT1s though. I am pretty sure 1970 #6 was an LT1, but there was not enough of it left to determine that when I saw it. There wasn't even enough to determine the type of radiator. That one might have been the first LT1, but we may never know that for sure.

The pictures of the 1970 ZR-1in my Fact Book has the steel fan shroud and smaller aluminum radiator. On page 116 it shows the individual picture of these items. It also says " Harrison aluminum radiator, 3007436, and metal fan shroud used with the racing package LT-1, the ZR-1."
Jim, I didn't notice that the Dobbin's book photo shows the ZR1 with a small aluminum radiator. Per the picture below, the ZR1's used the HD Harrison 436 radiator, base motor steel fan shroud and overflow tank:

Dan since only 25 ZR1's were sold, do you think that someone out there could of bought one from a seller that thought he only had a LT-1 to sell?

Jim, yes it has happened. The fellow I bought my 70 ZR1 from purchased it from a college student back I'm 1979 and he had no clue it was anything but an LT1 with really stiff (4.56) gears and a worn-out, noisy transmission (read M22). It wasnt until my buddy went to replace the front brake pads that he was told it had J56 HD brakes. It was only then did be figure out what be had.

ZR1's have flown under the radar for years since they are "only a smallblock" with no outward distinguishing features of L88's like aluminum heads, air induction hoods and the like. Unless you were to recognize a 436 radiator and other subtle differences, the distinctions are slight and easy to miss for the casual observer.

Talked to an individual today that knows that car. Miles are probably right but it has been "restored"

Just curious, why would a car with only 151 miles need anything?

Surface rust on the exhaust manifolds, dried up seals, fuel system, carb rebuild, belts, maybe hoses, weather stripping, the list could go on forever with a car that old.

By "anything" I meant parts replaced, not a rusty manifold or cleaning fuel system which doesn't show anyway. From the photos on Mecum website and watching the car sell last night, my original 62 with 125,000 miles has had fewer parts replaced, painted, etc.

Stored in very poor conditions with no attempt to preserve anything

                            Did it have any documentation?
